Twenty Three Calvin is a design practice based in Brooklyn, NY. We create places and experiences, working across scales, from buildings, to interiors, to landscapes. The studio is led by Marie Stargala and Matthew Rosen.

Marie Stargala

Marie is founder and principal of Twenty Three Calvin. She is a multidisciplinary designer with experience in the design of spaces, objects, lighting, and landscapes. Before founding Twenty Three Calvin, she worked for Herzog & de Meuron, Davies Toews, Vitra, Adidas, and Studio Toogood, among other design firms. Marie studied at Harvard Graduate School of Design, where she received a Masters in Architecture. Prior she studied at Art Center College of Design and Tama Art University in Tokyo, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Design. Alongside her practice, Marie teaches in the School of Architecture at Syracuse University.  She is a Registered Architect, and member of the American Institute of Architects.





Matthew Rosen

Matthew is founder and principal of Twenty Three Calvin. He is a designer and a painter, working across mediums and scales. Matthew graduated with honors from the University at Buffalo and holds a Master of Architecture from Harvard. Prior to forming Twenty Three Calvin, Matthew practiced at Herzog & de Meuron, and spent time working in Spain, Switzerland, and Japan. In addition to his work in the office, Matt teaches in The School of Architecture at Yale University and serves as the Assistant Director of the Yale Urban Design Workshop. He is a Registered Architect, and member of the American Institute of Architects.
